Approaching an original

A connection, not a checkout deadline.

An exhibition can begin a lasting relationship with a work. Collecting is a separate decision, with practical questions that deserve clear answers and time to consider them.

Establish what is being offered

Ask who made the work, who is authorized to sell it, and whether the offer concerns an original, an edition, or another object. Request its medium, dimensions, date where known, condition, and relevant provenance. Which documents will accompany it? What information is confirmed, and what remains uncertain?

A screen cannot settle every question about surface, scale, or color. Ask for suitable photographs or an opportunity to inspect the work. Confirm the total price and any separate costs for framing, packing, delivery, insurance, or taxes before agreeing to a purchase.

Separate the object from other rights

Do not assume that buying an artwork includes permission to reproduce it, distribute a film, or reuse its music. Ask which rights, if any, are included in writing. These are practical questions, not legal advice.

MAIKE has no sale inventory, checkout, or active inquiry form. A future artist-authorized inquiry path would need confirmed availability and terms. Viewing will not depend on an interest in purchasing.
